Nielsen Russia Packs Foods for 360 Families

Nielsen’s seventh Hunger Action Month is underway! From September 15 to October 15, Nielsen associates donate food, money and time to fight hunger and food insecurity. Originally growing out of Feeding America’s Hunger Action Month, Nielsen associates have taken the initiative global, as Hunger and Nutrition is one of the Nielsen Cares global volunteering program’s four priority areas. No matter the country, Nielsen associates work to fight food insecurity and hunger because many people globally are unable to access or afford sufficient nutrition.

One great example is from our Nielsen Cares Russia team. Almost 20 million people (13.5% of Russia’s population) are existing under minimum living wage level*, which means they are only able to satisfy their basic needs. To address this cause, Nielsen Russia partnered with the Charity Fund FoodBank Rus, volunteering to pack and distribute essential foods like rice, buckwheat, pea, oatmeal and pasta to those who are in need: elderly people, large families and single mothers. The team’s three hours of work resulted in 900 kg (almost 2000 lbs) of grains prepacked for 360 families. We feel privileged to be able to help those who faced severe life conditions and will continue to provide our support to fight food insecurity around the world.
